CERAMIC JEWELLERY
Three of my jewellery designs - 'Reeds', 'Seasons' and 'Tulips' - mirror ranges of my ceramics; two more - 'Razor' and 'Spoke' stand alone. Each range includes earrings, ear studs, pendants and brooches. Every hand-painted piece is distinct.
The Reeds and Seasons pieces are based on simple, clean shapes combining stained porcelain shapes with contrasting painted elements. My Spokes jewellery all combine radiating lines and concentric coloured bands. tulips incorporate the same motifs as my Tulips ceramics on a smaller scale.
The designs for the Razor jewellery were inspired by a visit to a beach in the Netherlands that was scattered with razor clam shells and flat grey and white pebbles. The pieces are based on flat and curved shapes, combining stained porcelain elements with contrasting painted pieces.
I make integral sterling silver fittings by hand to fit the hanging earrings. Ear studs also have sterling silver fittings. Brooches have silver-plated brooch backs. The pendants are fitted with leather thongs or waxed cotton with sterling silver tubes or bead details.
